Choreography & Staging Notes

• Rehearse Entrances, Exits, and Bows: These are just as important as the choreography itself. Ensure smooth transitions and confident stage presence.
• Emphasize Performance Quality Early: From the beginning, focus on stage presence, performative quality, and facial expressions. Dancers should look like they’re having fun and smiling on stage.
• New Student Enrollment: Students may register until March 1. With teacher permission, new enrollments are allowed as late as April 15 depending upon the level of the student. New students will catch on or may choose not to participate.
• Choreography Deadline: All choreography must be completed and submitted via video to Rebecca by March 15. Since students tend to miss classes around Spring Break, finishing choreography early will help manage these absences effectively.
• Plan for Attendance Challenges: Starting mid-March, it will be challenging to have an entire class present. CMS, CCS, private, and charter schools all have different Spring Break schedules. Additionally, those of you with Saturday and Monday classes won’t have lessons on MLK Day or Memorial Day weekends.

• Levels Pre-Dance 3 & 4, Fund. 5 & 6, Fund. 6–8, and Level 2:
  • Parents can purchase a choreography video for $10.00.
  • Parents may not record classes or receive personal links to choreography.
• Levels Preteen/Teen up to Level B:
  • Teachers are permitted to record choreography for at-home practice.
  • Teachers may share videos via the Recital 2026 Video google doc.

Important Note: Please be mindful of the quality of the recording and ensure that any comments made by the teacher are encouraging and positive to create a supportive experience for students and families.

• Entry/Exit:
  Levels Pre-Dance 3 & 4, Fundamentals 5 & 6, Fundamentals 6–8, Preteen/Teen, and Levels 2 & up will enter Stage Right and exit Stage Left.
• Safety:
  No blackout light cues will be used for younger dancers. Assistants in black attire will guide students from Stage Left.
• Floor Plan:
  Floors will be taped identically in both the studios and on stage for consistency.
• Line Rules:
  • Use no more than 6–8 dancers per line.
  • If you have more than 8 dancers, split them into two lines ensuring clear visibility for all dancers.

• Stage Prep:
  Dancers must be preset on stage before the music begins.
• Lighting:
  Our lighting options are limited due to time constraints. Please note any special lighting requests in the Recital 2026 Google Form (linked below).

• Avoid asking parents to purchase additional costume items without prior approval.
• BT 3 & 4 Students: Receive a new costume to keep.
• Other Students: Loaned costumes collected after recital.
• Rebecca & friends will assign costumes for Pre Dance 3 & 4 through Level 3. If you have specific ideas, please email Rebecca ASAP.

Please use the Recital 2026 Google Form to enter all relevant information needed for organizing and program planning.

Deadline: Complete all worksheets by May 1.
