Check-In/Out Procedures for Recital Day

To ensure a smooth and safe recital experience, please review the following check-in/out procedures carefully:

  1. Arrival Time:
Please do not arrive more than 45 minutes prior to your showtime. Check-in will begin promptly at the advertised time—no earlier or later. Guests must remain in the lobby while one parent/guardian (preferably female) and the dancer check in backstage.
  2. Check-In Process:
Each dancer and one parent/guardian must check in and receive a badge. Check-in will be organized alphabetically by last name. No one will be admitted beyond the check-in table without a badge or unless they are a dancer in costume. After check-in, a student helper will escort you and your dancer to the backstage area.
  3. Prepared Arrival:
Dancers should arrive in costume with hair and makeup fully done. There is no space available at the theater for costume changes or makeup application.
  4. Backstage Access:
After check-in, you may accompany your child to the dressing area, and then proceed to your seat in the theater. Only one parent/guardian may accompany the dancer backstage.
  5. During the Show:
Parents and guests will not be permitted backstage or in the dressing area during the show. We have your emergency contact information on hand and will notify you if your presence is needed. If anyone must leave the theater during the show, please do so between numbers to minimize disruptions.
  6. Space Limitations and Bag Guidelines:
Space in the changing area at KPAC is very limited. Dance bags should be no larger than a small duffle bag. In your bag, please include:
    • Dance shoes
    • A second pair of clean tights
    • A small water bottle
    • Costume pieces, including accessories such as hair bows, gloves, etc.
    • Be sure to write your child’s name on their bag to avoid confusion.

  1. Post-Performance:
At the end of the performance, dancers will not be released directly from the stage. Parents will not be allowed backstage until all children have safely cleared the stage and returned to their dressing areas. Once it is safe, parents with badges will be directed when and where to meet their child backstage.
  2. Check-Out Process:
After being checked out by a helper and returning your badge, your child will be released to you. For safety reasons, only those with a badge will be allowed into the backstage/dressing area. Please ask your guests to meet you outside the theater (weather permitting) or in the lobby.
  3. Performance Duration:
The performance will last approximately 45 minutes.

Thank you for respecting these procedures, which are in place to ensure the safety and enjoyment of all our performers and their families!
